Coolant Handling Module
The Coolant Handling Module is designed to provide coolant to the engine water jacket at precisely controlled temperature, flow rate, and pressure, ensuring stable and consistent thermal conditions during engine testing.
How It Works
Hot water returning from the engine passes through a heat exchanger, where it is cooled before being supplied back to the engine. The amount of shop cooling water flowing through the secondary circuit of the heat exchanger is controlled by the position of the control valve spindle.
A temperature sensor continuously senses the temperature of the water going to and coming out of the engine water jacket. The Process Controller uses this information to regulate the control valve spindle position and maintain the required coolant temperature.
The controller determines the required valve position based on the difference between the actual and set temperatures, along with the trend and speed of temperature change, including:
- ✓ Difference between actual and set temperature
- ✓ Trend of temperature change, including rise or fall
- ✓ Speed of temperature change
Controlled Coolant Management
The Coolant Handling Module combines heat exchange, temperature sensing, and process control to regulate coolant conditions supplied to the engine water jacket, supporting reliable and repeatable engine testing.
By continuously monitoring coolant temperature and dynamically adjusting the control valve, the system maintains the required thermal conditions while efficiently managing the cooling water flow through the heat exchanger.
